PDT Sets
PDT Sets – medical aids for percutaneous dilation
Percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy is a standardised procedure in intensive medical care. As an alternative to surgical tracheostomy, it can be performed more quickly at the bedside in intensive care units. The dilated tracheostoma closes on its own, and the long-term cosmetic results are significantly better than with conventional tracheostomy.
All Primed® PDT sets contain a dilation set and a corresponding tracheostomy tube set.
PDT Set Type 1
PDT SET TYPE 1 comprises a dilation set for the Ciaglia dilation technique and a tracheostomy tube with an atraumatic inserter. The tracheostomy tube set, which features an atraumatic insertion aid, includes three types of cannulas: Optima PercuTrach®, ProLine PercuTrach®, and Priflex PercuTrach®.
PDT Set Type 2
PDT SET TYPE 2 includes a dilation set designed for the Griggs dilation technique, complete with tracheal dilating forceps and an Optima tracheostomy tube.
Tracheostomy Tube with Atraumatic Inserter
The Optima PercuTrach® tracheostomy tubes with atraumatic inserters are specifically designed for use in dilatational tracheostomy procedures.
The outer cannula, made from thermosensitive material and fitted with a rigid 15 mm universal connector, offers comfortable wear. The atraumatic inserter is securely attached to the outer cannula, snapping firmly into place, and includes a practical handle with raised features to prevent slipping.
Each tracheostomy tube set includes two inner cannulas, which can be easily inserted and removed while being firmly secured within the outer cannula.
Tracheostomy Tube with Atraumatic Inserter
The PROLINE PercuTrach® tracheostomy tubes, equipped with atraumatic inserters, have been specially developed for use in dilatational tracheostomy.
Constructed from tissue-friendly polyurethane, they provide maximum airflow due to the excellent ratio between inner and outer diameters. Despite their extremely thin walls, they are still comfortable to wear.
Different inner cannula types can be securely attached to the outer cannula using a bayonet catch. All inner cannulas are fitted with a swivelling 15 mm connector, which reduces tensile and shear forces while ensuring stable positioning.
The atraumatic inserter is designed to match the ProLine outer cannula perfectly, locking securely into place with a bayonet connection. Its handle is practical, featuring raised sections to prevent slipping.
ULTRASOFT
ULTRASOFT tracheostomy tubes
The ULTRASOFT tracheostomy tubes, available through Iskus Health, stand out due to their exceptionally soft and flexible material, used in both the outer and inner cannulas. This ensures excellent wearability, providing optimal comfort for the patient.
Their multidimensional, movable neck flange allows the ULTRASOFT tracheostomy tube to adapt to each patient’s unique anatomy, enabling the head to move freely without putting pressure on the trachea.
Variants featuring a cuff are fitted with a thin-walled, low-pressure polyurethane (PU) cuff that adjusts perfectly to the trachea, offering a functional advantage over traditional PVC balloons.

Silver Tracheostomy Tubes
SILVER tracheostomy tubes are handcrafted in GERMANY from high-quality sterling silver (925) suitable for medical use. Their conical and seamless shape makes insertion straightforward and reduces irritation to the tracheal wall (special designs like cylindrical tracheostomy tubes are specifically marked in the catalogue).
These tubes are antibacterial and have a smooth, easily cleanable surface. The flange of each cannula includes two side eyelets for securing the inserted tracheostomy tube with a neck strap.
With very thin walls, these tracheostomy tubes offer a wide lumen, providing high ventilation capacity even in smaller cannulas. The material allows for an increased inner diameter without altering the external diameter, enabling more air to flow through the cannula. This greater internal volume makes silver cannulas superior in airflow to thicker medical-grade polymer cannulas.
